Why a new blog?
Well, the answer is quite simple: It's time to be proactive. Indeed, it's way overdue.
In my other blog, Mindless In Malaysia (http://mindless_in_malaysia.blogspot.com/), more often than not, the posts are about mindless things and/or people in Malaysia - things that I can't really do much about (in my Circle of Concern, but outside my Circle of Influence).
Here, in Man On A Mission, I'd rather focus on things I can do something about - myself, my life, my mission; albeit in this world, with all the good and the bad that I must live with.
If anything is as important as learning, it is applying what we have learned.
In my musings on human psychology and personal development - with the help of some mentors - I've come to realise that far too many people, including myself, acquire knowledge or generate ideas but do not act on them.
As Karl Marx once said, "the philosophers have already perceived the world in various ways; the point is to change it." And this we cannot do without acting on our ideas or using the knowledge that we have gained.
Thus, in short, this is my personal attempt to focus on what I can do - especially in making myself a better man, and hopefully thus contribute to a better world.
(NB: The concepts of being proactive and circles of concern and influence are borrowed from Stephen Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.)
